Google For Education Learning Center: Get Google Trained, Get Google Certified

The Google For Education Training Center will walk you through using a variety of Google Tools and track your progress along the way . Start at the "Fundamentals Training" and challenge yourself to complete the excerises.

There are a lot of examples and you can go through the lessons as many times as you need. When you complete the quiz at the end of each unit you can see your progress on the "progress" page. I personally logged 26 hours of training getting ready for the Level 2 Exam (and that was only in one of my Google Accounts).

The Educator Training Center is divided into 4 cateogories:

• Fundamentals Training- This is designed for teachers new to Google Tools and will introduce some basic featues of how you can use Google in the clasroom. You'll get familiar with sharing Google Docs and web resources.

• Advanced Training- Once you've got the basics down you might be ready to try to push your technology use to the "advanced" level. This training builds on what you've seen in the fundamentals trainings but brings in strategies that let you use the tools to their full potential. If you are familiar with the SAMR model of technology integration training at the "advanced" level focuses on "redefining" the way tasks are accomplished using technology.

• Devices Training- This section has two topics: Android Tablets and Chromebooks. The training focuses on the unique ways these typically, inexpensive devices can transform learning.

• Trainer Training - Google Certified Trainers must complete the Google Trainer exam and apply to be accepted into the program. Trainers are required to present sessions about Google Products and maintain their certification through professional development or examinations.
